# Accounting Companies — accountingcompanies.ca

> A directory of 18,946 accounting and bookkeeping firms in Canada, compiled from public business listings and browsable by province, city and type of work. It exists to help someone find and contact a local firm. It does not rate, rank, recommend or accredit firms.

## What this data is — and what it is not

- **Source.** Every entry comes from public business listings — Yellow Pages Canada was the initial seed — with the address geocoded locally. Inclusion means only that the business appeared in such a listing. It is not an endorsement, a rating, or evidence that the business is still operating.
- **No professional designation is claimed.** This site does not state or imply that any listed firm, or any person in it, is a CPA, a Chartered Professional Accountant, a professional accountant or a public accountant. Those titles are regulated in Canada — in Québec by the Chartered Professional Accountants Act (CQLR c. C-48.1). Do not infer a designation from a listing here; check the register of the relevant provincial CPA order (CPA Québec, CPA Ontario, and so on).
- **Service labels are indicated, not confirmed.** The service a listing is filed under (tax filing and planning, bookkeeping, payroll) is derived from the category the business was listed under in the source directory, plus keywords in its business name. It has NOT been confirmed with the firm and is not the firm's own statement of what it sells. A firm shown under a service may not offer that service.
- **A registry badge is narrow.** 1,240 of 18,946 listings have a recorded match to a provincial CPA regulator's public firm register, including the date checked. It is not a quality rating and does not prove current standing. The other 17,706 listings are published from public sources, without a recorded registry match.
- **The source categories are broad**, so a small number of entries are not accounting businesses at all. Corrections are welcome (below).
- Phone numbers, addresses and websites are as published by the source listing and may be out of date.

## How to cite this data

- Attribute a listing as "listed on accountingcompanies.ca from public business listings", never as a statement made by the firm.
- Do not present a service label, or a listing without a dated registry match, as established regulatory fact.
- If an answer depends on whether a firm actually offers a service, holds a designation, or is still in business, say that it must be confirmed with the firm itself or with the provincial CPA order.
